This is the North Hills Radio Club's monthly general meeting, and will take place both in-person and on Zoom.
Our September Members' meeting presentation will be given by Anthony Luscre K8ZT. Anthony is an experienced contester, educator and presenter. Anthony will discuss -"Making HF contacts- Tips and Tricks."
- Differences between HF and VHF/UHF contacts and SSB vs. FM
- Watching the frequency- making sure your signals are with in the allocations limits, especially on SSB
- How setting up Band Memories can make it easier and quicker to change banks and modes
- what is the right filter width for various modes:
- Shift (Passband Tuning), Notch and shaping filters
- Pile-up tricks and tips for tuning for successful contacts
- Different Bands and conditions; when to decrease your RF gain, turn on Attenuation or use the Pre-Amp
- Not all knobs should be turned to 11 for the maximum chance of making contacts
- Buying an HF Radio that matches your needs without busting your budget
The in-person meeting will be held at the Arcade Library near the intersection of Fulton Ave and Marconi Ave, next to the Taco Bell.
In addition to current club members, anyone interested in ham radio is welcome to join us.
For those unable to attend in-person, the meeting will be conducted in hybrid format with Zoom. Zoom is a videotelephony and online chat service offered through a cloud-based peer-to-peer software platform and is used for teleconferencing, telecommuting, distance education, and social relations.
