NHRC BOARD MINUTES April 17, 2012 Present were: Doug Emerson, N6NFF, President Maynard Wright, W6PAP, Secretary/Treasurer Sheilla Emerson, N6IKB, Director Bob Wortman, WB6VYH, Director Glenn Maclean, WA7SPY, Repeater Trustee Les Cobb, W6TEE, Webmaster Mark Del Monte, KJ6EFY, Net Manager Matthew Cobb, W6KDJ, Prize Chairman Paul Young, KA6PDY, Refreshments Chair Kim Scheidel, KE6RKX, Hamfest Committee President Doug, N6NFF, convened the meeting at 6:20 PM. Doug pointed out that John Staples was not to speak at the membership meeting as reported in the March minutes, but only at the Board meeting. No other corrections to the minutes were reported, so they were approved as corrected. Doug asked for volunteers to take Hamfest tickets to other clubs. Doug pointed out that our Constitution calls for an annual review. He asked Board members to review the Constitution and to bring comments or revisions to the next Board meeting. Maynard, W6PAP, agreed to send Doug a text copy of the Constitution. Maynard stated that a request has been received by email from Will Waters, N7IPY, Co-Team Lead for the Communications Team of Sacramento Metro Fire CERT to use the K6IS repeater system on April 28th in connection with the American River Parkway 1/2 Marathon. It has been previously agreed via a series of emails that permission would be granted. Doug agreed to disable IRLP access during the event. How to handle future requests for use of the repeater was discussed. The consensus was that the Trustee should make the decision. The Board should be kept informed and asked for comments. Glenn, WA7SPY, reported that the new east repeater will be installed in early to mid-May. It will free up a receiver that may be used to establish another voting repeater site. Glenn discussed the technical aspects of making the change. Doug adjourned the meeting at 7:00 PM. Respectfully submitted, Maynard Wright, W6PAP Secretary/Treasurer NHRC MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES April 17, 2012 President Doug, N6NFF, convened the meeting at 7:35 PM and called for a round of introductions. Secretary/Treasurer Maynard, W6PAP, reported that the Club is in good condition financially and has sufficient funds to prepare for the May 20th Hamfest. Repeater Trustee Glenn, WA7SPY, discussed the new repeater that will be installed at K6IS east in May. Under Old Business, Omer, KI6JNY, brought up the concern about using the national calling frequencies for the 6 meter and 2 meter simplex nets. Simplex Net NCS Kim, KE6RKX, said that he would conclude his investigation of the matter and report to the membership next month. Under New Business, Omer reported that Sam Bigham, N6NRX, has become a silent key. Glenn noted that the Citrus Heights VE Team will hold a Ham Cram to prepare folks for amateur exams at the LDS Church on Hazel Avenue in Orangevale. Paul, KA6PDY, reported that the NHRC Facebook and Twitter accounts are working well. Paul stated that Skywarn has had some problems and is being reorganized. Paul noted that you do not have to be a Skywarn member to serve as a storm spotter. Paul also said that Skywarn members will help with the Hamfest in May. Carl, WF6J, announced that a military TBS-8 is available from the estate of a silent key. Doug stated that he needs a microphone for Echolink nets. After the break Ryan, W6RNL, announced that he has Hamfest flyers available. Kim, KE6RKX, and Glenn, WA7SPY, made an interesting and informative presentation, with demo bags, on go bags.
