NHRC BOARD MINUTES March 20, 2012 Present were: Doug Emerson, N6NFF, President Ryan Larkin, W6RNL, Vice President Maynard Wright, W6PAP, Secretary/Treasurer Bob Wortman, WB6VYH, Director Beau Palmer, WB6YYH, Director Les Cobb, W6TEE, Webmaster Mark Del Monte, KJ6EFY, Net Manager Matthew Cobb, W6KDJ, Prize Chairman Paul Young, KA6PDY, Refreshments Chair Ruth Blattner, KI6MNZ, Member Omer Whipple, KI6JNY, Member President Doug, N6NFF, convened the meeting at 6:24 PM. Doug reported that John Staples, Sacramento County A.E.C. and Assistant Chief of Sacramento Fire CERT Communications Section, will be addressing the membership at the April meeting as he will be unable to make it to the March membership meeting. Ryan, W6RNL, stated that the Hamfest fliers are ready and will be printed shortly. Ryan also said that the Kenwood repeater will be purchased for us soon by Chris Huber, N6ICW. The cost will be approximately $700. Doug asked Board members to review the Constitution and By-Laws so that we can discuss them at the next meeting in accordance with the requirement for annual review. Maynard, W6PAP, agreed to email copies to Doug and Bob, WB6VYH. Paul, KA6PDY, informed the Board that he had contacted the people responsible for putting on the North Highlands Jubilee later this year to see whether we might participate by manning an NHRC booth. He has not yet received a response. Paul reported that our Facebook and Twitter accounts are working well. Mark, KJ6EFY, noted that our Tuesday and Thursday net checkins are up, including the 2m and 6m simplex checkins. Doug adjourned the meeting at 6:45 PM. Respectfully submitted, Maynard Wright, W6PAP Secretary/Treasurer NHRC MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES March 20, 2012 President Doug, N6NFF, convened the meeting at 7:34 PM and called for a round of introductions. Ryan, W6RNL, informed the membership that NHRC is buying a Kenwood repeater for about $700, a considerable bargain. Ryan also stated that the Hamfest flier is ready and will be printed shortly. Carl, WF6J, reported that he has the ticket stock for the Hamfest tickets and the tickets are ready to be printed. Ron, W6KJ, our Section Manager, and Les Cobb, W6TEE, stated that will post the flier as soon as they receive it. Ron said that a digital edition of QST will be available by June and that he would like to have an ARRL ez-up at the Hamfest. Maynard, W6PAP, delivered a brief Treasurer's report in which he opined that the purchase of the new repeater would not impair the finances of NHRC. He also congratulated Paul, KA6PDY, and his wife for doing a great job with the refreshments. Mark, KJ6EFY, noted that we are seeing an increased number of checkins during our Tuesday and Thursday nets. We are seeing four to six checkins during the new 6 meter simplex checkin. Les, W6TEE, asked anyone who sees a need for changes in the NHRC website to contact him. Les also informed the Club that Bruce, K6THN, of the Mt. Vaca Radio Club, has started a new 75 meter SSB net on 3918.5 kHz at 8:00 PM local time on Saturday nights. Les stated that Bruce needs two substitute NCS for the next two Saturday nights. Under old business, Omer, KI6JNY, brought up the matter of using the VHF national calling frequency, 146.530 MHz, for a net. The matter was deferred as Kim Scheidel, our simplex NCS, was not present. Richard, KI6PXB, announced the advent of a new electronics swap meet to be held monthly in North Highlands at 5901 Watt Ave. Richard's contact info is 916.842.1496. Following the break, Don Johnson, K6GET, presented a program on Navstar and GPS. Matthew, W6KDJ, conducted the drawing. President Doug adjourned the meeting at 9:18 PM.
