NHRC BOARD MINUTES
August 11, 2009

Present were:
Les Cobb. W6TEE, President
Maynard Wright, W6PAP, Secretary/Treasurer
Matthew Cobb, W6KDJ, Member

The meeting was called to order by President Les, W6TEE, at
6:30 PM.

Planning for What is Amateur Radio (WIAR) was discussed.
Les stated that Kim, KE6RKX, would be at the membership
meeting next week to discuss WIAR with the members.
Maynard agreed to contact NCCY to make sure that we can
obtain access to the meeting room as early as possible.

The need to obtain a slate of officers for next year was
discussed.  Several names were considered and Les will
act to charter a nominating committee as required by the
Constitution.

Les noted that the Telephone Pioneers Net is still using
the K6IS repeater due to trouble with their own repeater.

Les adjourned the meeting at 7:45 PM.

NHRC MEMBERSHIP MEETING MINUTES
August 18th, 2009

President Les, W6TEE, convened the meeting at 7:35 PM.

Each attendee introduced himself or herself during a round of
introductions.

Kim, KE6RKX, Chair of WIAR (scheduled for September 15th), 
discussed the program and listed exhibits that are already
on the agenda.  Others volunteered and the results are:

W6PAP mid-'50s tube CW/AM

W6TEE IRLP demo

Sweep Riders WS100 & Tevis Cup

Andy, W6AWS, suggested contacting N6SNO about having a CERT
trailer at WIAR.  Kim will contact NWS about representation
at WIAR.  Kim will also contact Peter, WB6NGK, about a display
of military radios.

Kim also discussed the recent WS100 and Tevis Cup events for
which amateur radio plays a major roll in providing 
communications.

The monthly raffle was held.

Maynard, W6PAP, discussed various aspects of SWR: how reflected
power affects the transmitter, how much loss a particular
SWR causes to the radiated signal, etc.

The meeting was adjourned by Les at 9:05 PM.
